The start of the documentary “We Are The Shaggs” depicts a gaggle of random folks listening to the titular outsider pop group The Shaggs for the primary time, all reacting with some related mixture of emotions: perplexity, amusement, irritation, and usually some type of “wtf is that this?” confusion.

Their unusual debut album, Philosophy of the World, launched in 1969, was the product of 4 folks: the younger Wiggin sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Wiggin (vocals, lead guitar), Betty Wiggin (vocals, rhythm guitar), Helen Wiggin (drums), and their domineering dad, Austin Wigginwho, beneath the spell of his mom and a few psychic dream, was satisfied his daughters had been born to grow to be pop stars.
