‘Sinners’ Music Wins Prizes at Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards


Two-time Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson (“Black Panther,” “Oppenheimer”) was honored with two massive awards on the seventh annual Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) Awards, held Friday night on the Skirball Cultural Heart in Los Angeles.

Göransson earned SCL Awards for his work on Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” profitable Excellent Unique Rating for a Studio Movie and Excellent Unique Music for a Drama or Documentary for “I Lied to You,” co-written with Raphael Saadiq.

The Swedish composer, a present Oscar nominee within the rating and music classesadditionally obtained the 2026 Spirit of Collaboration Award alongside Coogler, honoring their longstanding partnership on all 5 of Coogler’s movies: “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” “Black Panther,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Ceaselessly” and “Sinners.”

In different classes, Bryce Dessner gained Excellent Unique Rating for an Impartial Movie for “Prepare Desires,” whereas EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick gained Excellent Unique Music for a Comedy or Musical for the Oscar-nominated “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters,” persevering with the music’s awards streak following wins on the Grammy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Critics Alternative Awards.

For tv music, the SCL awarded Cristóbal Tapia de Veer for the opening title theme of the third season of “The White Lotus” and Theodore Shapiro for the rating of “Severance.”

The ceremony was hosted by actor and musician Kevin Bacon alongside Emmy-winning composer Michael Bacon of The Bacon Brothers. The night featured a tribute celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of “Rocky,” performed by composer Invoice Conti, and an In Memoriam efficiency by Melissa Manchester honoring the late Alan Bergman.
