It’s been a very long time since we heard from Gnarls Barkley. “Loopy,” from the 2006 debut album St. Elsewherewas one of many largest songs of its period. CeeLo Inexperienced and Hazard Mouse adopted that album with a second, The Odd Couplein 2008, after which, they went their separate methods. Almost twenty years later, they’re again: Immediately (February 26), the duo introduced Atlantawhich is being known as their “third and remaining album.”
Immediately additionally brings “Footage,” a nostalgic new single that represents the pair’s first new music in 18 years. In an announcement, CeeLo says of the music;
“‘Footage’ is like going again to sq. one, It’s a full circle second. The spirit of Gnarls Barkley is at all times self-discovery. The candy, the unhappy, and the unusual. The universe, the journey within your self. (…)
The music got here from a childhood expertise. I had a center faculty principal who, each Friday would inform me to go once I would get to highschool. With out fail. I used to be in eighth grade and I would go away faculty and journey the prepare alone from 8 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. The hook of the music is actually about being on the prepare. If you find yourself in transit it’s like a movement image passing you by… staring out the window of the MARTA prepare.”
