Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the S & P 500 posted a record close Thursday, and what’s on the radar for the next session. Netflix Lights, camera… CNBC’s coverage of Netflix continues Friday morning. The stock wasn’t moving much in the after hours. The company reported an earnings beat after the bell and hiked full-year revenue guidance. Shares are up about 97% in the past 12 months, and they’re up nearly 43% in 2025. That makes Netflix the best of the Magnificent Seven stocks in both time periods. NFLX 1Y mountain Netflix in the past 12 months American Express CNBC will cover American Express ‘s earnings on ” Squawk Box ” Friday morning. Shares have gained 25% over the past three months. The stock is 4% from the early July high. Regional banks report Friday on ‘Squawk Box’ Comerica has gained 18% over the past three months. Huntington Bancshares has gained 24% in the past three months. Regions Financial has risen 27% in the past three months. Truist Financial has advanced 25% in the past three months. All four of these stocks are about 10% off from their highs, which they hit on Nov. 25. RF 3M mountain Regions Financial in the past three months Crypto The House of Representatives passed a trio of cryptocurrency bills on Thursday. Bitcoin is up 86% in the past year, and it’s gained 29% year to date. Ether is flat in the past 12 months, but up 4% year to date. Japan CNBC TV’s Leslie Picker will report on the move in Japanese bonds Friday, ahead of Sunday’s election in that country’s upper house of parliament. She will report that Japan has the highest debt-to-GDP ratio in the developed world. The iShares MSCI Japan ETF (EWJ) is off 4% from the June 27 high. EWJ YTD mountain The iShares MSCI Japan ETF (EWJ) in 2025 On the rails The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar, that Union Pacific is in talks to buy Norfolk Southern . The paper said that talks are “early stage.” Norfolk Southern is up 4% after hours. So far this year, it is up 15%. Union Pacific is flat after hours and little changed in 2025. Interactive Brokers’ founder Thomas Peterffy Peterffy said on ” Closing Bell: Overtime ” with Morgan Brennan on Thursday: “I basically do not see any any dark clouds in the horizon. As a matter of fact, I can’t think of anything that will stop this rally. I expect this rally to continue for the next two or three years.” Interactive Brokers shares are doing all right.
